AMCD and CSJ are excited to announce the 2014 AMCD/CSJ Service Day just prior to the American Counseling Association (ACA) national conference in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Presidents Dr. Michael Brooks (AMCD) and Dr. Selma Yznaga (CSJ) have asked that we partner counseling professionals/leaders with emerging professionals/graduate students to use their skills in counseling outreach efforts with the diverse and multicultural community of Hawaii. In this spirit, AMCD and CSJ are hoping to recruit 20-30 volunteers, both professionals and students, to participate in community service just prior to the 2014 ACA Conference in Honolulu.
The 2014 Service Day will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2014. Teams of professionals and students will complete a 3-6 hour service day project at the site of a community partner in Honolulu and on the Island of Oahu. Volunteers will be assigned to committees and will receive training and assist in planning the Service Day. Volunteers should arrive in Honolulu on Wednesday, March 26 for a Service Day orientation meeting. The purpose of the March 26 meeting will be to meet each other and finalize arrangements. The meeting is scheduled from 5 pm until 7 pm. More specifics will be provided at a later date.
If you are interested in volunteering, please send your name, contact information (email address and phone number), and a 1-2 paragraph statement of your interest in serving as a volunteer along with your resume/vitae to Scott Brown (
) or Dr. LaShonda Fuller (
) by Sunday, December 22, 2012. If you know of someone that may be interested in this opportunity, please share this call for volunteers with her/him.
